Disinfection Plan begins in Caracas against COVID-19

The Mayor’s Office of Caracas, the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), the Civil Protection and Disasters Administration (PC), the Caracas Police Department and the Government of the Capital District launched on Saturday night the Disinfection Plan for Streets and Public Spaces to protect citizens and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The fumigation and disinfection operation, to be carried out during nighttime hours, began in O’Leary Square, Sucre Avenue, 23 de Enero, and Catia, Caracas’ west; in Valle-Coche Avenue and the Coche Municipal Market, Caracas’ southwest; and all along Baralt Avenue. The operation includes the deployment of FANB vehicles equipped with high-powered water hoses, nicknamed “The Whale,” spraying hypochlorite solution; police patrols and motorcycles, and water trucks to reload the FANB vehicles. Likewise, Civil Protection teams are in charge of spraying disinfectant solution in the street to guarantee the protection of the people and avoid the propagation of COVID-19. The operation will take place in Caracas’ main avenues, parks, squares, and in public transport vehicles. These sanitation measures add up to the constitutional state of alarm decreed by President Nicolás Maduro to stop the spread of COVID-19. Mayor’s Office of Caracas
