In the framework of the work of the Presidential Commission Cuban delegation arrives to combat Covid-19

As part of the work being carried out by the Presidential Commission for the Prevention of Covid-19, a technical delegation of Cuban specialists and doctors arrived on Sunday at the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to support the fight against Covid-19. The representation is made up of Dr. José Ernesto Betancourt, director of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health; Dr. Luis Herrera Martínez, medical creator of the drug Interferón; two intensive medicine specialists; an epidemiologist and a virologist. The reception was held at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, and was in charge of the Vice-minister for Latin America, of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Rander Peña. “This team comes to the country with the intention of managing prevention policies against Covid-19, among them the creator of Interferon, applied in China to contain and thus prevent the spread of Covid-19. And now he is in Venezuela! That is the result of that beautiful alliance. We tell the Venezuelan people to have confidence in the political leadership of the Bolivarian Government and in President Nicolás Maduro”, said the Vice-minister. For his part, Dr. José Ernesto Betancourt, indicated that during these days actions will be evaluated to improve the protection of the Venezuelan people, the preparation of institutions and the communication of risks regarding this pandemic. “We are at the disposal of our cooperators, we are accompanied by doctors with a high level of professional technical training, who will do everything possible to fulfill this mission in the best way”. It should be noted that Interferon is a molecule that acts at the level of the body’s defense mechanisms. The doctor and director general of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in this country, Luis Martínez, explained that the supply of this drug works by increasing the response capacity against the virus and avoiding complications in patients with immune pathologies.
