Presidential Commission and Cuban specialists strengthen measures against COVID-19
The Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19) held a meeting on Monday, March 16, with Cuban specialists to strengthen prevention and containment strategies for this pandemic in Venezuela.
The meeting, led by Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, was aimed at establishing coordination measures and strengthening preventative measures against coronavirus.
The Cuban technical delegation arrived in Venezuela on Sunday, March 15, to assess the levels of preparation and exchange experiences in containment plans implemented by the two countries.
The group of specialists is comprised by intensive medical care experts, one epidemiologist and one microbiologist from the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine, an institution that leads epidemiological surveillance, isolation and treatment protocols for the coronavirus cases confirmed in Cuba.
The meeting was also attended by Doctor Luis Herrera, creator of Interferon alpha 2B, an antiviral successfully used to fight coronavirus in China, as a representative of Havana’s Genetic and Biotechnological Engineering Center.
