President Maduro calls on the unity to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Venezuela
A call for unity, solidarity and cooperation was extended by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to the Venezuelan people to face the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the nation.
From the Presidential Command Post, installed in the Miraflores Palace, located in Caracas, he advocated conscience and collective discipline to attend to the sanitary prevention measures dictated to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
“I call for the national unity, to put differences aside and unite in a single effort to face these new circumstances that life presents us. I ask for the support of the entire Venezuelan society, we are going to face this pandemic and with the union of a whole country we will move forward”, he said.
Previously, the Dignitary announced the first phase of collective quarantine in seven states and the Capital District, a measure that will take effect from 5:00 in the morning on Monday, March 16.
“We all stay home. To the suspension of classes at all levels is added work suspension, all activities except those of social service and urgent need”, he explained.
Food, health, security and transport services are exempt from the collective quarantine period.
“Either we are going to quarantine or the pandemic could bring down our country inclemently and tragically, as is happening today in Europe”, he emphasized.
He reiterated that the National Government maintains the respective sanitary protocols, as well as the protection and social security mechanisms to support the population.
