Last February, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister formally requested – through a letter signed by President Nicolás Maduro – the initiation of an investigation of crimes against humanity that derive from the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government against Venezuela. Since 2014, more than 300 unilateral coercive measures have been adopted from the White House to affect the functioning of the economy and undermine the human rights of the Venezuelan people. Consequently, there has been an abrupt decrease in the national oil revenue of Venezuela, which has gone from about 42 billion dollars in 2013 to 4 billion in 2018, reducing the ability of the Venezuelan State to import basic goods such as food and medicines.

Venezuela exhorta al Consejo de DDHH a contener la barbarie que constituyen medidas coercitivas unilaterales“These actions of economic terrorism have generated losses to the country that already exceed 120 billion dollars”, Foreign Minister Arreaza said in recent days, during his address to the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. In a meeting this Monday at the White House with President Trump, the Colombian president said, “It is important to impose stronger sanctions on Venezuela”, even though unilateral coercive measures cause severe damage and undermine the human rights of the Venezuelan people. Foreign Minister Arreaza whipped Duke’s “desperate visit” to Washington, in which “he cannot explain why he does not comply with the destruction of illegal crops, he begs for a free trade agreement. He asks for sanctions against the Venezuelan people and lies to earn points with his ‘Patrump’ (Patron / Boss)”.
