“I am very satisfied! I am very grateful to the Venezuelan government for this moment (…) it is an important moment because we are developing humanitarian work in the country and this fact will greatly facilitate our activity with the people of Venezuela, with the most needy”, said the president World Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Francesco Rocca, during the signing of an Agreement between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the international organization to determine its legal status in the country.
Along the same lines, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, from the Casa Amarilla, Antonio José de Sucre, said that “the cooperation agreement gives very clear rules of the game within the Venezuelan law system and within the parameters of international law to the Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (…) so that it can act more easly in Venezuela, have a greater level of breadth, and thus, cooperate even more in the humanitarian, health, sanitation and other areas that are of importance in our country”.
He also said that this agreement joins the one with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), with whom he held a meeting the first weeks of January of the current year, to follow up on cooperation agreements undertaken jointly between the Bolivarian Government and the international instance.

During this important meeting, the Minister for Foreign Relations highlighted the importance of such agreements in times of an – economic and political – blockade in order to meet the needs of the Venezuelan people.
“We know that the Red Cross through its Federation will make great efforts as it did in 2019 (…) so we hope that this is another small step of thousands of kilometers we have to travel”, added the Foreign Minister, when also commented on the demands, aspirations and satisfaction of President Nicolás Maduro for this cooperation agreement.
