Bilateral relationship between Iran and Venezuela flourishes and projects towards the future
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Islamic Republic of Iran have strengthened their relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation, in an official visit that concluded on Tuesday the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, to the Persian nation.
At a press conference from Tehran, after meeting with the Iranian president Hasan Rohaní, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister ratified Caracas’s commitment to the promotion of a new necessary global geopolitical scheme, in which the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of The United Nations are respected.
“It is something we have shared with the Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif; We have shared it with the ministers with whom we have met and with President Rohaní as well”, he said in his statements to the media.
In this regard, he stressed the need to promote respect for the sovereignty of states and their territorial integrity, in addition to condemning vicious actions that violate those sovereignties, such as the unilateral coercive measures and other embarrassing actions outside the Charter of the UN, “as in the case of the murder of Major General Qasem Soleimani and his companions”.
Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza insisted, in this context, on the determination of the Venezuelan Government to promote international relations of peace, cooperation and respect for international law.
“That is why our relationship with Iran continues to flourish despite the aggressions; attacks, it is a relationship that in different areas of the economic dimension, of the cultural dimension, continues to flourish and will continue to flourish into the future”, he said.
From this perspective, Foreign Minister Arreaza informed that Venezuela and Iran plan to hold the ninth High-Level Joint Commission in Tehran soon, with the common vision of signing new bilateral cooperation agreements in different areas, mainly in energy and health matters for satisfaction of the needs of the two peoples.
Similarly, he announced the celebration at the highest level of 70 years of diplomatic relations, which will be fulfilled on August 9 of this year 2020.
Unilateral Coercive Measures
The Islamic Republic of Iran, denounced the Venezuelan diplomat, has been subject for decades to the imposition of illegal unilateral coercive measures from the United States; However, he praised, the Persian nation has developed its economy and its own capabilities.
“We continue to exchange knowledge and learning processes to circumvent the blockade, the aggressions, to be able to develop our economy as Iran has done over the last decades”, he said, referring to the “sanctions” to which Venezuela has also been subject.
Minister Arreaza also stressed the right of both countries to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity; in the case of Iran, the right to defend peace in the region and prevent the advance of terrorism in the Middle East.
In Venezuela, he said, the National Executive remains focused on economic recovery plans to meet the needs of the population, despite the limitations implied by illegal unilateral coercive measures.
