Venezuela and China deepen unbreakable comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the People’s Republic of China have given renewed momentum to their bilateral relations in the midst of the official visit by the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, to the Asian nation. “We have come to deepen the alliance that Venezuela and China have managed to build over the past 20 years, which with the visit in 2014 of President Xi Jinping to Caracas was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership”, said the Venezuelan foreign minister this Friday at a press conference from Beijing. During this period, the diplomat said in his statements to the media, that the two countries have held 16 China-Venezuela High Level Joint Commissions (CMAN), from which hundreds of agreements have been signed and have become into Concrete projects for mutual benefit.

“Yesterday we were talking with Foreign Minister Wang Yi about the need to design the prompt route for the 17th high-level commission to be held in Caracas this year 2020,” Minister Arreaza said. In the early days of his official visit to Beijing, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister has held meetings of the highest level with representatives of the Chinese government, including Vice-president Wang Qishan and the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi.

New era

Relations between Caracas and Beijing were channeled into a new era in 2018, when presidents Nicolás Maduro and Xi Jinping met in the Chinese capital on a state visit of the Venezuelan president to the Asian nation. “They even raised the association towards a new era and it is precisely what we have been working for in different areas and sectors of the economy, culture, education, between Venezuela and China”, said Foreign Minister Arreaza. It is a respectful interaction, said the Venezuelan diplomat who added that China has never intended to impose any conditions on Venezuela. “It is an unbreakable association that will know how to adapt to the circumstances, the aggressions and we are sure that, with the support of the People’s Republic of China, President Nicolás Maduro will be able to carry the Bolivarian Economic Agenda with greater rhythm and we will be able to recover the Venezuelan economy from the savage and criminal aggression to which it has been subjected in recent years”, he said.

United States intervention

On other issues, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations denounced the interference policy that the ruling elite of the United States has maintained in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. “We have been subject to direct intervention by the United States from February 2, 1999 until January 17, 2020 and we will continue to be, permanently, it is not a matter of once a month, it is a matter of every day, of every hour”, he said about it. In this regard, he referred to the various destabilizing actions that are directed against Caracas from the White House. “Coups, economic destabilization, state terrorism, communicational war, economic warfare, commercial and banking blockade”. He even referred to the self-proclamation – with the support of the United States – of an opposition deputy as “interim president of Venezuela” and the frustrated coup d’etat that took place in Caracas on April 30, 2019. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister made an overview of the situation in Venezuela and reported an evolution not only in the commercial and economic situation of the country in 2019 despite the illegal blockade imposed by the White House, but also in the process of dialogue with the moderate sectors of the opposition.
