Venezuela and Indonesia celebrate 60 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Indonesia, commemorated this Tuesday the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with a cultural and artistic event in Caracas. The celebration was attended by diplomats and authorities from different accredited countries in the country, as well as from the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations. Among the cultural events, the presentation of the typical dance ‘La Porupa’, common in weddings and Indonesian events of great relevance, was highlighted. The traditional rhythms made a soon appearance, and to the sound of the joropo, the National Dance Company of Venezuela, zapateó (danced) and unveiled the black and Creole roots that characterize Venezuelan folklore. Children and young people also offered a recital of the typical Indonesian instrument, angklung; and a string ensemble accompanied the guests throughout the reception. During his speech, the ambassador of the South Asian nation, Mochammad Luthfie Witto, highlighted the excellent level of cooperation and bilateral association that Venezuela and Indonesia have achieved during these 60 years. “We hope to continue to be strengthened for years to come, we rely on trust, respect and mutual benefit. Indonesia will always support Venezuela in all its efforts”. He also said that in economic terms both countries continue to increase commercial volume, as well as investments and tourism through agreements adopted by their governments. For his part, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, said that Indonesia is a power and it’s fundamental in the Association of the United Nations of Southeast Asia (Asean), an organization that seeks to accelerate economic growth and promote peace and stability of that region.
