XVI Edition of the International Book Fair will have Mexico as a special guest
The XVI International Book Fair of Venezuela (Filven) that will take place in 2020 will have as special guest the United States of Mexico, as announced by the head of State and Government, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
In this regard, the People’s Power Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, explained that the invitation responds to the excellent participation that Mexico had during this year’s edition, in which five Mexican writers participated and a cooperation agreement in matters of culture was signed between both nations.
“We are going to reopen a bookstore that the Mexican Economic Culture Fund has in Sabana Grande -Caracas-, which will operate in conjunction with the Librerías del Sur”, Villegas said.
In addition, he informed that under the Filven, agreements were signed with the People’s Republic of China, Mexico and other nations to obtain an exchange of authors.
“With the People’s Republic of China we signed an agreement that will allow us to have in the Simón Rodríguez Library, in Caracas, a center of Chinese books that will remain there after the fair and also in the Librería del Sur that which is in the Teresa Carreño Theater”, added the Minister.
