General debate continues at XVIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the NAM
This Saturday continues the general debate of the XVIII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the participation of senior representatives of the 120 member countries of the multilateral body.
The session held at the Baku Convention Center – which runs until this Saturday – focuses on deliberations around Bandung’s principles in search of deepening the decolonization process and consolidating the emancipation of third world peoples.
Member States debate in order to agree on a fair response to face the challenges of fundamental rights, sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference, respect for justice and international obligations.
It is estimated that the final declaration will be presented in the afternoon, as well as the closing of the multilateral meeting by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
This Friday, the Venezuelan dignitary participated in the opening ceremony of the XVIII Summit of the NAM, where he urged the more than 120 members of the multilateral body to condemn the interference and harmful policies imposed by imperialist powers on nations determined to be independent.
“The key to everything lies, brothers, in mutual respect and in betting on solidarity consensus, because it allows us to strengthen solidarity and unity among our entire membership; it facilitates the implementation of our decisions and consolidates the credibility of our movement”, said the Venezuelan president.
