NAM countries condemn multiform war of imperialism against Venezuela

The XVIII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) concluded this Saturday with unconditional support to President Nicolás Maduro, rejection to the coercive and unilateral sanctions to which Venezuela is subjected and expressions of congratulations for delivering to Azerbaijan a strengthened instance. During their interventions in the plenary, various members spoke against the multiform war applied by US imperialism in Venezuela, which have been aimed at undermining the quality of life of the people and trying to break their sovereignty. The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, denounced the resurgence of coercive actions, the constant attacks on the country and described as perverse the attempts to generate a violent escalation to “unleash an internal conflict”. “Against the Venezuela that resists, the most perverse accusations are launched, psychological warfare techniques are applied and destabilization is promoted in a thousand times failed attempt to unleash an internal conflict”, he emphasized. In his words, he stressed that the United States relies on weapons as its main force, while in contrast “we (the NAM countries) have the strength of the people”. In that context, he urged the 120 countries of the Movement to support Cuba and Venezuela to avoid repeating scenarios such as those in Syria, Iraq and Libya. “Let’s not wait until the bombs fall on them”, he warned. Bolivia had the same discursive line, which, in reference to the destabilizing plans faced by both nations, emphasized that the NAM must act proactively to denounce restrictive maneuvers that affect the human rights of the population. “We reject threats of intervention and reiterate a message of peace among the peoples”, said the minister of this nation, Diego Pary Rodríguez. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada Colindres, urged the international community to “respect the personality, sovereignty and independence” of the member states and stressed that “destabilizing plans and coups in the world should no longer be accommodated against our legitimate governments”. Therefore, he sympathized with the peoples and governments of Venezuela and Cuba, nations “fighting for their independence, sovereignty and self-determination” Meanwhile, the Pan-African Parliament applauded the union of the Venezuelan people against the pressures of the external powers, while Tanzania demanded the States to have greater commitment in the fight against the eradication of colonialism “to ensure the right of self-determination and independence of the peoples”. Iran called on nations to act against the insecurity of cyberspace, the illegitimate use of social networks and data for the influence of public opinion, an operation that he qualified as a “threat from the current world”, in accordance with the maneuver used against Venezuela, last March, which left the country without electricity service for more than seven days. “The security of cyberspace and the integrity of these networks are a requirement for the prosperity of independent nations in the 21st century. Our Movement can be a pioneer in establishing a comprehensive strategy and creating an international agreement on cybersecurity to eliminate the vulnerability of nations to attacks in cyberspace”, he stressed.
