China highlights that Venezuela’s election at the UN reflects the will of the international community
The government of the People’s Republic of China highlighted on Friday that the election of Venezuela in the Human Rights Council of the United Nations Organization (UN) reflects the will of the international community.
The spokesman for the Asian giant, Geng Shuang, said this result is “reasonable and fair”, while lamenting American criticism of this decision.
In that sense, the Chinese government urged the United States not to politicize the issue of human rights.
Venezuela obtained a seat on the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2020-2022 for the Latin American and Caribbean region on Thursday, obtaining 105 votes from the 193 members. Brazil won second place.
