Foreign Minister Arreaza denounces from the UN-Geneva opposition links with Colombian paramilitarism

The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, referred Friday to the photos that show the deputy Juan Guaidó with Colombian paramilitaries and the coincidence that they appear a day after the Colombian Foreign Minister, Carlos Trujillo Holmes, promised to show more evidence of the supposed link of the Venezuelan Government with guerrilla groups of his country, during a session of the Organization of American States (OAS). “Foreign Minister Holmes Trujillo said he was going to show videos and photos of the Bolivarian Government’s links with the guerrillas, and what appeared were photos, in and from Colombia, of Mr. Juan Guaidó with paramilitaries”, said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister at a press conference with international media from Geneva, where he participates in the 42nd session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN). He denounced that the aforementioned images demonstrate the link between the Colombian paramilitarism and the president of the National Assembly in contempt, Juan Guaidó, and a sector of the Venezuelan opposition, which has become a criminal organization that promotes the violence, coup d’etat and remains with the resources of the Venezuelan people blocked in the United States. He affirmed that there are paramilitary groups that are trained in Colombian territory to generate violence and destabilization in Venezuela, and that through intelligence work of the national authorities they have been able to deactivate some operations, with the capture of those involved. To the question about the concentration of soldiers on the border, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza justified that “military exercises are necessary measures to protect us; They are not a provocation”. He said that it is a constitutional duty to be able to deploy military capabilities in the most sensitive area of Venezuelan territory, which is the border with Colombia. In this context, he said that Colombia is governed by Álvaro Uribe Vélez, who “is an expert, could be a special rapporteur in false flags” and is investigated by the Colombian justice itself. “The provocation comes from Colombia. We only defend ourselves; We are prepared to protect ourselves, to respond, hoping it never happens. We would never attack the soil of any sister country under any circumstances”, said the diplomat.
