Venezuela and Cuba strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation from the UN-Geneva
The Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Alexander Yánez, met Monday with the permanent representative of Cuba to the UN-Geneva, Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, in order to strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation that maintain the governments and peoples of both Caribbean countries.
The meeting was held within the framework of the 42nd Session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN), which takes place in the office of Geneva, Switzerland, between September 9 and 14.
Venezuela and Cuba maintain a long-standing brotherhood relationship, which was deepened in 2000 with the comprehensive cooperation agreement signed by Commanders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, which covers the areas of health, education, sport, energy, technology, defense and food, among others.
The agenda of the session of the UN Human Rights Council contemplates issues related to human rights situations in member countries that require the attention of the multilateral agency throughout the year.
