Venezuela participates in the Annual Meeting of Diplomats of Romania
As part of the activities to celebrate “Diplomacy Day” in Romania and with the sponsorship and organization of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the “Annual Diplomatic Meeting” was held with the participation of representatives of international organizations and Heads of Mission of embassies and consulates accredited in this European country, as well as members of the Chamber of Deputies and Senators of the Romanian Parliament, ministers, university rectors and representatives of civil society.
The event, which took place between August 26 and 30, was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Ramona Manescú, and allowed members of the diplomatic bodies to participate in a series of thematic meetings, in which they discussed points of current world diplomacy.
The theme of this year’s edition was entitled: “The diplomacy of Romania: benchmarks and new perspectives”, and was attended by Alfredo Alfonso Torrealba, head of Mission with the rank of Ambassador of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Romania.
The main issues discussed at the meeting were the future of the European Union and its role in world politics; transatlantic relations; relations with the Middle East; Romania’s political and economic relations with the countries of Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America; humanitarian aid; development, peace and security worldwide.
As of 2005, the Romanian “Diplomacy Day” is celebrated every year on September 1, being the moment in which the contribution of Romanian diplomacy to the development of the country and the promotion of its interests abroad is honored in the public space.
