Vice Minister Carlos Ron: We have gold, oil and the conviction of being free and independent

During an interview offered for the “En Pauta” program, broadcast on National Radio of Venezuela, the Vice-minister for North America of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Carlos Ron, reiterated that the historical motive of the economic and financial siege against the South American country; is undoubtedly the seizure of the natural resources that it possesses, its strategic location and the rebellion of its people that acts as an impediment in the hegemonic strategy of the US government over the countries of Latin America. In this regard, he stressed that Venezuelans deeply believe in their participatory and leading democracy; in their constitution and in the direction taken to defend their homeland. “Nothing has to get us out of the direction we have taken, we are convinced that for Venezuela, the way out of this situation is a society where social justice predominates (…) what is at stake here and the historical motive of the siege against Venezuela, is the amount of natural resources that it possesses, the geographical situation, the oil, gold, as well as our desire to be free and independent”. He also stressed that the principles of the Bolivarian Revolution are more in force than ever, “we must rely on the work of the government that is here, but it is also important that people fight and work to get the country forward; resist and help in the midst of these moments of crisis to make the necessary changes to continue building that country we want”. With respect to the economic aggressions already formalized by the United States, the Vice-minister added that one of the strengths of the economic blockade lies precisely in what is not yet written, and that by 2017, the US government had already issued an alert through the Treasury Department to the international financial system to boycott bank transactions with Venezuelan money. “Many banks, after seeing this alert, decided not to process the Venezuelan money fearing reprisals from the US government, bank transactions were held back with millions of dollars withheld, a robbery (…) at this time any person with US nationality who wants to conduct some type of business with the government of Venezuela can be subject to sanctions directly and indirectly”, he concluded.
