Venezuela advocates a new geopolitics of cooperation from the NAM
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, raised this Saturday the consolidation of a geopolitical scheme of cooperation, exchange and brotherhood from the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM), whose highest instance of leadership is the Latin American country since 2016.
During his speech at the Ministerial Meeting of the NAM Coordination Bureau, which is being held in Caracas, the Venezuelan dignitary recalled the foundations of the NAM and the historical process of struggle against colonialism, racism and slavery of the peoples of the South, from which the multilateral organization that groups 120 countries was conceived.
“We have managed to fight for the just causes, with clear ideas, with courage and with rebellious power of two centuries against the old colonialisms and all their forms of exploitation. It is important to bear in mind the historical strength we carry”, he emphasized.
In his speech, the Venezuelan Head of State thanked the delegates of more than 120 countries for their visits and expressions of support and solidarity towards his government and the people of Venezuela.
US intends to seize Venezuela’s oil wealth
At the same time, the president denounced the White House’s pretensions to force a change of government in the Latin American country, with the ultimate goal of controlling its riches and huge natural resources.
“They want to seize the immense oil wealth of Venezuela to twist the arm of the world, to twist the arm of the OPEC countries and the non-OPEC countries, and take the hydrocarbon market to their full control”, he warned.
In this context, he also denounced that Venezuela is the victim of a “multiform aggression”, which contemplates a set of unilateral coercive measures – contrary to international law and the Charter of the United Nations – as well as a persecution in the financial sphere.
“Venezuela has more than 30 billion dollars frozen in assets and cash accounts in the world, Venezuela is pursuing trade and is prevented from buying medicines, food, inputs for the industry”, added President Maduro.
