Venezuela and Nigeria agree to increase bilateral cooperation mechanisms
On an official visit to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Sectoral Vice-president of Social and Territorial Development of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Aristóbulo Istúriz, was received on Tuesday by the Vice-president of the West African nation, Yemi Osinbajo.
During the bilateral meeting held in Abuja, the Venezuelan and Nigerian Vice-presidents expressed their joint intention to increase cooperation mechanisms and hold a joint intergovernmental commission.
The meeting was propitious for the parties to reaffirm the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity between both nations, in addition to exchange views on topics of mutual interest.
Vice-president Istúriz, who was accompanied by the Vice-minister for Africa of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Yuri Pimentel, recalled the African heritage that predominates in Venezuelan culture.
The Minister of Education also traveled to Nigeria to celebrate the Day of Democracy, which marks the beginning of the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The Venezuelan high official was received with honors in the Nigerian capital, where the presidential ceremony will take place.
