ALBA-TCP rejects interference and aggressions from the US to countries of Latin America and the Caribbean
The ideology of freedom and emancipation of Simón Bolívar, José Martí, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, whose legacies are still in full force, served as fuel for the ministers, foreign ministers and heads of delegation of the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Treaty of Commerce of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), meeting in the Habana, Cuba, on the occasion of the XVIII Political Council, expressed their rejection by the excessive escalation of aggression against Latin America, the actions against the peace and regional security, especially the threats of the use of force against Venezuela.
The Final Declaration of the event had 22 points, in which regional leaders repudiated the interference against countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as support for the struggle for peace and the defense of regional sovereignty.
Full support to Venezuela
The document stands out, the resistance of the Venezuelan State and people against external interference and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States Government; and reiterates the support for the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro Moros, the Bolivarian Revolution and the civic-military union.
They also condemn the violation of the invulnerable premises of diplomatic missions, in a total rupture with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The Bolivarian alliance called to support the initiative of the ‘Montevideo Mechanism’ integrated by Mexico, Uruguay, Bolivia and the Caribbean Community (Caricom), looking to preserve the peace and stability of the South American country.
Under these premises, it demands the strict observance of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, the prohibition of the use of force and threat; and non-interference in the internal affairs of each country.
Likewise, it rejects the application of unilateral coercive measures, as it is contrary to the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations (UN).
The Final Declaration of the Political Council also exposes the rejection of the interventionist behavior of the United States Government that uses mechanisms such as the Organization of American States (OAS) for its interventionist purposes against the sovereignty, self-determination and constitutional order of Venezuela.
In the text, the member countries dissociate themselves from the “Monroe Doctrine”, which reveals the hegemonic and imperialist pretensions of the United States and that revives the most serious and peremptory threat to peace in the hemisphere.
It also ratifies the need to strengthen the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) as a mechanism of regional political agreement based on the strict observance and defense of the principles of international law.
The manifesto of the peoples closes renewing the commitment to political coordination, cooperation and integration, as well as the defense of unity against interference and political and economic domination.
