President Erdogan pleads for the respect of Venezuela’s democracy and sovereignty
For the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayip Erdogan, dialogue is the ideal tool to resolve the political conflict that Venezuela is going through, a South American country that dawned with a coup attempt promoted by a tiny group of rebellious soldiers who bet on the destabilization of democracy and peace of the Venezuelan people.
Before this message of solidarity of President Erdogan, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, thanked the position taken by the government of the Eurasian country, it represents a clear sign of respect for international law.
“We thank the President of Turkey @RTErdogan for his firm and clear position of support for International Law and Peace and respect for democracy in Venezuela”, the FM published through his Twitter account @jaarreaza.
Faced with this coup attempt, the Turkish president called on the governments of the world to “respect the democratic preferences of the people of Venezuela”, who last May re-elected President Nicolás Maduro Moros for a second constitutional mandate.
Likewise, Turkey opposes the unconstitutional attempts that some right-wing actors use to delegitimize and change the democratically elected government.
“Today #Venezuela we are worried about the news that there are some attempts against the constitutional order. We oppose attempts to change legitimate governments in undemocratic ways. We are in favor of solving problems in the country with dialogue. We are always with the people of Venezuela”, said President Erdogan.
