New coup attempt by Washington and Bogotá fails to undermine Venezuelan democracy

Before the attempted coup perpetrated by a group of irregulars who were stationed on Tuesday in the vicinity of Altamira in Caracas, to generate a military uprising, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, once again denounced the attempt of satellite governments supported by the United States to undermine Venezuelan democracy through unconstitutional strategies. “We denounce to the international community the support of the Colombian government for this new coup attempt in Venezuela. Washington and Bogota have planned all the unsuccessful and unconstitutional actions of recent months in Venezuela”, the FM posted on his Twitter account @jaarreaza. Since dawn, a tiny group of National Guard officers accompanied by the self-proclaimed deputy Juan Guaidó and terrorist Leopoldo López, tried to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the Venezuelan people through a supposed coup d’état, a strategy that is part of the so-called “Freedom operation” and that is sponsored mainly by the government of the United States, Colombia and other countries that make up the self-denominated Lima Group. The Colombian Foreign Minister, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, asked this organization, composed of 14 countries, to hold an emergency meeting to supposedly support the return of democracy and freedom to Venezuela, which in the opinion of Minister Jorge Arreaza, constitutes “an evident conspiracy against Venezuelan democracy” which “are supported and financed by the Colombian government”. Likewise, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister criticized the stiff position assumed by the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, who once again supported the attempted coup against the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro Moros, at the same time, repudiated the open participation of Washington in this new aggression to the Peace of the Venezuelan People. “The Heads of the coup d’état acknowledge their authorship without scruples. The Trump Administration in its desperation aims to generate an internal conflict in Venezuela. The democratic institutions of Venezuela will guarantee the peace of the country”.
