Venezuela participates in the II Forum of the Strip and Route Initiative, which takes place in Beijin, it has the participation of 125 countries and 29 financial organizations aiming to promote an economic corridor similar to the former Silk Route, without geographical limitations, including Latin America. The Venezuelan delegation is headed by the People’s Power Minister of Economy and Finance and Secretary of the Joint Commission of High Level China-Venezuela, Simón Zerpa, who reported on Thursday that during the meeting, he held a meeting with the Director General of the World Bank, Kristalina Georgieva, and with the director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde. Similarly, he said “we have been able to talk with the governor of the Chinese People’s Bank, Zhou Xiaochuan, and China’s Finance Minister, Lou Jiwei, in the middle of this space that is committed to building an alternative route to trade with multiple opportunities”. Through his account on the social network Twitter, the Minister said that in this forum the task of strengthening strategic alliances that allow Venezuela to boost its economy continues, amid the sanctions and the criminal blockade exercised by the United States to suffocate the country and harm our people. Likewise, Zerpa said that he met with the Russian Prime Vice-minister and Finance Minister, Antón Suliánov, and that he then held a productive meeting with Iranian Finance Minister Farhad Dejpasand. Strengthening relationships “We have also taken advantage of this space to strengthen our historic alliances with the sisterly Republic of Cuba, after holding a meeting with its Vice president, Gladys Bejarano, who heads the High Level delegation of her country, in the Forum of the Strip and the Route”, he emphasized. He also indicated that he had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Katrougalos, with whom an agenda of topics of interest between both countries was reviewed. On the other hand, to strengthen the strategic partnership in financial matters; which is increasingly solid, thanks to the work commanded by President Nicolás Maduro, the Minister met with the Vice President of the People’s Bank of China, Pan Gongsheng. “In this way our participation in this epicenter of the world economy is a sign of the international recognition of the Constitutional Government of President Nicolás Maduro, and the mood of the strategic relationship we have worked with China, thanks to the vision of Commander Chávez”.
