Foreign Minister Arreaza: Bolton seems to charge more for interfering in Venezuela’s affairs than for fulfilling his functions

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, criticized the statement issued this Friday by US National Security Advisor, John Bolton, which alludes to issues of exclusive competence of the Latin American country. In this regard, he suggested – through his Twitter account @ jaarreaza – that the function of the North American counselor should be to guarantee the security of his country. The National Security Adviser of the White House issued a statement regarding the presence of Russian military personnel in Venezuela, who arrived in the country in recent days within the framework of military-technical cooperation programs maintained by Caracas and Moscow. On Monday, FM Arreaza rejected the claims of the US Administration to interfere in the military agreements reached by Russia and Venezuela. On that occasion, he stressed that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is irrevocably free and independent and will maintain military cooperation with its allies in the world, to strengthen the methods of protection of the Venezuelan people and territory against any external aggression. Western governments must respect international law On the other hand, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations urged governments of Western countries to respect the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations, especially respect for the internal affairs of countries. “Although it seems incredible, from Venezuela we must remind almost daily to several Western governments that they must respect International Law”, the diplomat added on Twitter.
