Venezuela participates in preparatory meeting for the VIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the ACS

This Wednesday, the Vice-minister for the Caribbean of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Raúl Li Causi, participates in the preparatory meeting for the 8th Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), which will be held this 28th and 29th March in Nicaragua, with the aim of presenting the new Action Plan of the Association, 2019-2021. During the Summit, it is planned to present the Political Declaration of Managua, which ratifies the Association’s commitment to consolidating the region as a zone of peace. During the last years Venezuela played an important role within the Association, as promoter of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace and more recently in the exercise of its Pro Tempore Presidency, during the period 2017-2018, in which it obtained broad support for the response that it offered in the face of natural disasters during the month of September 2017 in the Caribbean region, which caused the loss of human lives, damage to the economy, agriculture and infrastructure. The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) is the organization for consultation, cooperation and concerted action in the field of trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters in the Greater Caribbean. Its Member States are Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela.
