From the UBV the Che Guevara Internationalist Brigade speaks out in defense of the Bolivarian Revolution

Within the framework of the second Encounter of the Che Guevera Internationalist Brigade, a press conference was held from the spaces of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV) with the young representatives of the different social movements of the world who arrived in the past, 16 February. Representing Venezuela was Jorge Villalba, representative of the movement Otro Beta, the Argentine brigadist, Silvana Broggi and the Brazilian brigadist, Rodrigo Suñé. The informative event also had the participation of the Vice-minister of International Communication of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, William Castillo. During the press conference the spokesmen expressed themselves against the media campaign that exists around Venezuela, orchestrated by the international press and directed by the US government, with the aim of projecting to the world an image of chaos in the country that justifies from the imperial logic, a military intervention. In this regard, Silvana Broggi expressed, “what a hypocrites the governments of Latin America are, by speaking ill of Venezuela and do not taking care of their people just to keep the government of the United States happy”. He said that the purpose of his visit has to do with the solidarity and revolutionary sense that lies within his essence, also with the representation of all young people who sacrificed their lives to defend the sovereignty and independence of their nations, before different circumstances of oppression. Broggi stressed that in Argentina the inequality between the poor and the rich is increasingly pronounced, “thousands of Argentines are without work, without knowing how to bring bread to their homes, that is the truth of the last three years”. For his part, Rodrigo Suñe said that it is necessary to rescue the historical meaning of the Bolivarian Revolution as the precedent of all social movements and leader of the processes of social integration in the region and other parts of the world. He stressed that the Che Guevara Brigade brings that historical sense. “We are the articulation of the movements of the Alba, the fundamental thing is the integration of our peoples to construct a project that allows to unify the revolutionary fights”. The brigadist also added, “Venezuela is a revolutionary beacon and we young people needed to come and see this people who fight and resist the imperialist threats”. On the other hand, Vice-minister Castillo pointed out that only through the Venezuelan Constitution a mutually agreed political timetable is possible and he confirmed that the opposition lies to the world when they say that a self-proclamation is in Article 233. Castillo concluded his speech by stating that “we still have to build peace among the political actors, finish defeating the coup d’état and finally build the economic peace that is going to give the country definitive stability”. It should be noted that this important activity is part of a series of events to be held as a prelude to the International Assembly of Peoples to be held in the South American country from February 24 to 27, 2019, in Caracas.
