Foreign Minister Arreaza: The United States restricts Ambassador Moncada because the truth of Venezuela hurts them

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will evaluate the corresponding actions by virtue of the arbitrary decision of the United States government to restrict the mobility of Venezuelan diplomats to multilateral organizations headquartered in the United States, informed Saturday the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza. Specifically, he referred to the limitations imposed on the Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of American States (OAS), Samuel Moncada, whose visa was restricted within a perimeter of 25 miles, in the city of New York, after his intervention in the Permanent Council of the continental forum. “The truth to the United States hurts them and that is why they made the decision to restrict Samuel Moncada as our permanent representative to the United Nations, who is in New York, with the only intention that he can not reach Washington to intervene in the sessions of the Permanent Council of the OAS, they are afraid of the truth of Venezuela”, Foreign Minister Arreaza said in an interview with Telesur. In that sense, he argued that the decision of the Trump government constitutes a gigantic arbitrariness but also demonstrates the very essence of Venezuela’s truth. “In the end Samuel Moncada dismantled everything they said, told them the central truths that dismantled the scaffolding of the lies they had said for hours, then they restricted him (…) The truth of Venezuela hurts the empire”, he said in reference to the intervention of the Venezuelan ambassador before the Permanent Council of the OAS, during the session held this Friday. With a few exceptions from Caribbean and South American nations, he denounced that the countries that have grouped against Venezuela have prepared the conditions for a war in the Bolivarian country, from within the OAS. “The OAS has always lent itself to prepare the United States the conditions for them to intervene”, he said. However, he confirmed that the legitimate Government of Venezuela will continue to fulfill its functions in the Organization of American States, until the period established in its statutes for the definitive withdrawal of the country from that organization is fulfilled. “We can not silence the voice of Venezuela in the OAS until April 27, which is the day we leave, nobody takes us out, nobody expelles us, nobody suspends us in the OAS, we decided to leave on April 27, 2017 , a timely and pertinent decision of President Nicolás Maduro, the Charter of the OAS obliges us as a State to remain two years fulfilling functions regularly (…) Each time there is a Permanent Council there will be the voice, the verb and the truth of Venezuela”, he said in the same vein. Caracas-Washington Dialogue In this context, Minister Jorge Arreaza confirmed the meetings he had with the US diplomatic envoy to Venezuela, Elliot Abrams, in which the Assistant Secretary of State Kimberly Breier was also present. “Those have been meetings where we have heard to each other, there are profound differences but at the same time there are shared concerns and hopefully we can build on this dialogue proposed by the State Department”, he revealed. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister announced, in parallel, a new meeting to be held next week by the group of countries that was formed last Thursday at the UN in defense of the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of this body and international law. “When unilateralism, US hegemony seeks to destroy international law, when they intend to call for wars as in the Venezuelan case, it is there where multilateralism, solidarity and international law must be expressed to stop the beast and prevent the worst from happening”. He complemented.
