President Maduro: Triumph of peace is the most important political achievement

“The Bolivarian project has achieved an unprecedented institutional stability that is precisely explained by the level of political consciousness forged in a participatory and protagonist democracy”, President Nicolás Maduro stressed in his speech on Monday, reviewing the achievements in the political field of the Bolivarian Revolution. In his speech, on the occasion of the Act of Report and Account and Presentation of the Plan de la Patria 2019-2025, on the national radio and television network, from the Federal Legislative Palace, he indicated without any doubt that “our greatest achievement then, is peace affirmative, active, acording to the concepts of Unesco, to have achieved a social consensus that is valid in this Constitution which has been threatened by the waste of a violent, classist, racist and anti-republican oligarchy”. He explained that in this time, a political Revolution was made in order to avoid the self-destruction of the Homeland, “through the social wars that our country lived, that’s what imperialism wanted: To propitiate a confrontation between brothers that not only brings the Bolivarian Project to an end, but the whole country, as happened unfortunately in our beloved Libya”. “They have wanted to erase us and we have avoided it with reason, politics and force, to keep us in the field of democratic politics, just as in 1999 it was necessary to make us our constituent origins, on May 1, 2017, I summoned the owner of sovereignty, so that constitutionally be elected a plenipotentiary National Constituent Assembly, instrument with which we managed to disarm the fascist violence of the right, return the streets to the citizens and establish political coexistence”, said the Venezuelan head of State. The Venezuelan leader said that this National Constituent Assembly (ANC) and this climate of peace “is our greatest achievement in recent years, in terms of collective well-being”. He enumerated chronologically: “Between 2017 and 2018, to achieve peace, an electoral calendar was established and fulfilled giving a lesson to the world in democracy, the election of the constituents on July 30, the election of governors and legislative councils on March 15. October 2017, the election of mayors on December 10, 2017, the fourth election, to choose the president of the Republic and the fifth electoral appointment, in less than 2 years, was last December 9 where the councilors were elected for the 335 municipalities of the country”. He pointed out: “If this excess of democracy, as Eduardo Galeano would say, was not enough, during all this time we have been holding meeting with the adversary who has not been enough to the demands of the country. An opposition that can not decide for itself if it goes or not to elections, if it signs or not the agreements that have been created by itself, because it receives orders and is subordinated to the desires of the Colombian oligarchy in Bogota and Washington”. He stressed that this political legitimacy, consolidated vote by vote, election after election, “is not Nicolás Maduro as a person, it is a legitimacy of an entire people, of a whole country that has managed to take its place within the framework of universal democracy. We have fulfilled a democratic cycle and with it we have drowned the voices of war and the affirmative peace has triumphed, the constitutional peace”.
