Through the Diplomatic Note, the Government of Chile made it clear that territorial issues and bilateral sovereignty are the responsibility of only the parties involved. This, referring to the serious entry into Venezuelan territory by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on December 22, when two ships of the US oil company Exxon Mobil incurred a flagrant violation of sovereignty. This rectification takes place after the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry delivered a Note of Protest to all the governments of the Lima Group, while President Nicolás Maduro gave 48 hours to the member countries to rectify their position.
