UN reaffirms its position to keep working with the Government of Venezuela in favor of dialogue
“We will keep working, always supporting dialogue, with the Government of Venezuela, particularly in the framework of development assistance, food, health, safety and nutrition. As a matter of principle”.
This was expressed on Thursday by the spokesman of the General Secretary of the United Nations (UN), Stéphane Dujarric, during a press conference with international media in which he assured that, after the oath taken by President Nicolás Maduro for his second term 2019- 2025, the UN will keep working side by side with Venezuela.
Dujarric affirmed that the General Secretary, Antonio Guterres, has made available his good offices to “support the diverse initiatives of the dialogue in Venezuela” in favor of the peace and the political stability, at the time he reiterates his will to impel the cooperation mechanisms in favor of the development, as established at the bilateral meeting with President Nicolás Maduro, within the framework of the 73rd Session of the General Assembly.
It should be noted that the official inauguration ceremony of President Nicolás Maduro was attended by leaders from more than 94 countries of the world, and representatives of International Organizations, such as Peter Grohmann, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System and Representative Resident of the UNDP in Venezuela.
