Plan Vuelta a la Patria dismisses the year with 300 returnees from Ecuador

The last massive repatriation day of 2018 culminated in a successful way which allowed the return of 300 Venezuelans from the Republic of Ecuador. Through tears, laughter and applause, they expressed the excitement of receiving the New Year in their country, along with their family and friends. “Life goes on in Venezuela”, said Yohana García with her daughter in her arms. “Finally my mother and all my family will meet my daughter, we will spend December 31 together as before, eating hallacas”, García also added that the labor and economic instability coupled with the deficiency in the education system, prompted her to make the decision to return. Three main reasons to be repatriated Like Johana, the majority of the nationals repatriated since August, identified as the first cause of return to the country the economic problems and the impossibility of obtaining a decent job. Secondly, the constant harassment in the host country, denouncing strong episodes of xenophobia, labor exploitation, and social abuse. The rest said they were suffering from serious health problems. It should be noted that during the last five months all health cases were prioritized and attended by trained medical personnel in each of the trips. Conviasa staff committed For the operation of December 29, the State Airline, Conviasa, arranged the activation of six flights. Three to the Republic of Peru and three more to the Republic of Ecuador, motivated by the demand for applications that the Venezuelan embassies in these two countries keep receiving. In addition, the staff expressed their pride in having made this airlift possible. “I am happy to be here complying with the guidelines of Conviasa and collaborating with the repatriation of Venezuelans who decide to return to the country, I have participated in previous conferences and the processes have been successful and timely”, said the captain, Alejandro Rivas. Reception The welcome acts were in charge of the Vice-minister of Economic Cooperation of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Ramón Gordils; the Vice-minister for the Caribbean, Raúl Licausi and the Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues, Félix Plasencia. All of them recognized the initiative of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza as promoters of this project that has allowed the reunion of thousands of Venezuelans. During their words of welcome, the Vice-ministers encouraged the construction of a hard-working unified nation, “to serve as an example to those who wish to leave the country under false promises”. With the historical figures reached in December, the Bolivarian Government ratifies once again the strong commitment acquired for the welfare of every one of the Venezuelans. To date, almost 12.000 nationals, whose elementary rights have been violated, have returned and thousands of applications are still waiting for the year 2019.
