Venezuela ratifies willingness to deepen cooperation ties with Unicef

On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, confirmed on Tuesday the decision of the South American country to keep expanding cooperation ties with the organization. “In the framework of the 72nd Anniversary of the @UNICEF, Venezuela ratifies its firm decision to keep deepening the efforts to strengthen the ties of cooperation with this instance, in order to guarantee our children and adolescents a prosperous future”, said the president through his Twitter account @NicolasMaduro. Last October, Venezuela and Unicef signed the Framework Agreement for the Promotion of the Action Plan 2018-2019, during a major working meeting held in Caracas by the regional director of the Latin American and Caribbean body, María Cristina Perceval, and a delegation of the Venezuelan Government led by Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza. This agreement arose from the exchanges with national authorities responsible for the different areas of cooperation focus, and responding to calls for deepening Unicef’s cooperation with the Bolivarian Republic, in which the areas of expansion have been jointly identified for the last two years of the 2015-2019 Country Program agreed in 2014, through an Action Plan for a financial ceiling of 32 million dollars, which includes the following sectors: Education, Nutrition; Water, Hygiene and Sanitation; Health, and Protection of Children. Founded on December 11, 1946, Unicef works in 190 countries and territories to protect the lives of children and to defend their rights.
