Managua will host XVII Regular Meeting of the Political Council of ALBA-TCP

The city of Managua, capital of the Republic of Nicaragua, will host this Thursday the 17th Ordinary Meeting of the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Treaty of Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), which brings together the ministers of Foreign Relations of the organism. The high-level meeting will allow an analysis of the current regional context and perspectives for the year 2019, as well as defining actions and lines of work for the next two years from the Executive Secretariat of ALBA-TCP, being one of these lines the impulse to the Alliance. The Vice President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, said that on Thursday, early in the morning, the Central American country will receive the fraternal delegations of the member countries of the international organization. “The General Secretary of ALBA, David Choquehuanca, who was the chancellor of Bolivia and is now General Secretary of this important organization, fraternal union of peoples of our America, has been here since yesterday”, he emphasized. He also highlighted the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the ALBA Bank in Caracas, “Developing the Present, Balance, Challenges and Proposals to build a financial architecture for the integration and development of Latin America and the Caribbean”. The unilateral coercive measures imposed by the government of the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Republic of Nicaragua and the Republic of Cuba will be part of the debate agenda. The XVI Ordinary Meeting of the Political Council of ALBA-TCP took place in December 2017 in Havana, Cuba. The Political Council fulfills the function of advising the Presidential Council on strategic political issues and presenting proposals for international policy issues for debate in that instance.
