This is the eighth flight of the Plan Vuelta a la Patria that leaves from the Republic of Ecuador, where a total of 83 Venezuelans return, who voluntary requested the repatriation and incorporation to the Plan Vuelta a la Patria.
On this occasion, among the sons and daughters of Bolivar who return to Venezuela are 33 women, 29 men and 21 children and adolescents aged between 0 and 17 years.
In this opportunity, two cases of pregnancies were prioritized, which feared for the medical expenses that would imply a birth on Ecuadorian soil. Bárbara Bolívar, four months pregnant, said that she arrived in Ecuador with expectations of starting her university studies, but she couldn’t materialize it due to its high cost.
Gerardo Araujo, 57 year old teacher in chemistry and mathematics, said he worked for 36 continuous hours in a car park, and reported abuse. “My boss, a Colombian lady fired me, because I complained that they did not let me take a bath during all those hours of work”. In his journey, Araujo was in Colombia and then in Ecuador, where he was finally repatriated.
Among the prioritized health cases is Mrs. Beatriz Antonia Valera, 70, who has a broken shoulder and also said she had received a treatment of a xenophobic nature by the Ecuadorian doctor who saw her, “the doctor did not treat me well, he told me that I had nothing, that there was no fracture. Then I went to see a Venezuelan doctor from another hospital and he confirmed that there was a fracture”, she said.
Belarmina de Peña, 60, and Eduardo Peña, 65, a couple from the state of Barinas who worked in Ecuador selling cachapas in a traveling cart, are returning today to Venezuela due to respiratory complications that they developed due to the working conditions in which they lived.
“I looked for an appointment for the doctor to see me, but they did not want to see me because I did not have an Ecuadorian identity card. They told me I had to keep calling, I called more than 25 times and they did not give me an appointment due to lack of an agenda”, said Mrs. Belarmina de Peña.
On balance, with the Plan Vuelta a la Patria, 741 Venezuelans have returned from Ecuador, 756 repatriates from Peru, 171 nationals repatriated from Argentina, 95 from the Dominican Republic and thousands more from Brazil and Colombia.
According to official figures, a total of 8,484 nationals have returned safely and free of charge to the country, thanks to the Plan Vuelta a la Patria, which was launched by the Bolivarian Government since August.
