- On Thursday, the Chancellor of the Republic of Burundi, Ezechiel Nigibira, held a meeting with the Vice-minister for Africa of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Yuri Pimentel, in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea – within the celebration of the 50th anniversary of its independence – being this one, the first of several bilateral meetings that the venezuelan diplomat will hold with various African countries, in order to strengthen south-south cooperation.

The meeting was aimed at reiterating solidarity and supporting the efforts of the burundian government in strengthening its institutional capacity, preservation and respect for its political sovereignty, as well as agreeing actions between the both countries in the matter of defense from the unilateral coercive measures that have been imposed affecting the full enjoyment of the economic and social rights of both peoples.
Foreign Minister Nigibira expressed the total support from the Republic of Burundi and extended an invitation to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to keep visiting the african nation, in order to establish commercial ties.
For his part, Vice-minister Pimentel spoke about the truth of Venezuela, the consequences of the blockade and the illegal and arbitrary sanctions imposed by the US government and the European Union, which limit and significantly affect the economic development of Venezuela.
He also expressed the need to connect both continents through airlines and foster the connection for the emergence of new ties of unity and commercial cooperation.
