Fifth flight from Ecuador repatriates 96 Venezuelans

An international media campaign promoted the thesis of an alleged humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, motivating countrymen to leave their homeland to countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina in pursuit of a so-called better livelihoods that was nothing but lies which ended up making them return.

The eleventh flight executed through the Airlift Plan Vuelta a la Patria, which repatriated 96 fellow countrymen who went to Ecuador, reaffirms the experiences of venezuelans who made the difficult decision to build a new identity abroad. A deceptive job offer led Johanna Segovia to migrate with her young son. The young TSU in Human Resources, recieived an offer to work in a restaurant franchise, but upon arrival in the South American nation there was no such proposal. A short stay of almost two months and the rejection to the venezuelan migrants was enough for Segovia to make the decision to return to Venezuela. “I came to Ecuador because I was offered to work in a restaurant franchise. When I arrived I did not get a job, so I had to face a cruel reality. My son could not study, and we managed to survive thanks to the help of a friend”, Segovia said. The story of this young woman is a sample of what thousands of venezuelan migrants live outside their country. Acts of xenophobia, false expectations and rejection for being venezuelan are some of the situations that condition their lives in foreign lands. Faced with this harsh reality, the Bolivarian Government activated the Plan Vuelta a la Patria, a mechanism created by President Nicolás Maduro to repatriate our compatriots to their homes.
