President of Russia rejects terrorist methods applied against Venezuela

“Against him (Nicolás Maduro) a terrorist attack was carried out, an attempt to assassinate him. Are we also going to approve these forms of political struggle?” Said the Russian president.

The russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday condemned the terrorist methods that seek to take power in Venezuela and insisted on allowing the South American nation to decide its future on its own.

“The terrorist methods to overthrow power in the country are unacceptable”, said the Russian leader during the international forum Energy Week of Russia, which assessed the effects of external factors, particularly political, on oil prices.

Putin condemned the interventionist threats against Venezuela and affirmed that venezuelans must determine the political future of their nation.

“Against him (President Nicolás Maduro) a terrorist attack was carried out, an attempt to assassinate him. Are we also going to approve these forms of political struggle? I think that is absolutely unacceptable. Neither the one, nor the other, or anything like it”, Putin said.

He added that it is “a matter of principles” to set aside methods that could harm the situation of the civilian population. He insisted on the importance of observing what is happening in Venezuela “and give the people the opportunity to resolve the situation on their own”.

“It is not possible to go there and hang around like an elephant in a china shop without understanding what is really happening, and thinking only that the elephant is the biggest and most intelligent animal”, he added in the meeting that takes place from this 3 to 6 of October.
