Installed in Caracas Youth Network for the Solidarity Union of the South American Peoples

The People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, in Caracas, was the scene on Tuesday of the installation of the Youth Network for the Solidarity Union of the South American Peoples, which will seek permanent dialogue on the topics of the agenda of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), linking to the youth institutions of the regional bloc.

This initiative, which arises from the “We are all Unasur” model, opens a space for political dialogue among young people, in the axes that UNASUR works: peace, democracy and human rights, with various youth participation strategies for cooperation, the exchange of experiences and learning to strengthen the identity and friendship of the people.

During the installation ceremony, the representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela before the General Secretariat of Unasur, Pedro Sassone, recalled not only the foundations of the organization -in April 2007- but the geopolitical vision of Commander Hugo Chávez.

“We have seen its development, we have seen it germinate from the process of coherence of the ideas of Commander Chávez, in his vision of the future, in the reading of hegemony and world geopolitics”, he recapitulated.

At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that UNASUR represents the identity and coherence of an idea: to reconnect with the history and the great integrationist project of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

“We are genuinely integrationist (…) It is impossible to conceive the venezuelan Homeland without the reason for integration, integration for us is a reason of genesis, of what we are as a Republic, that is the Unasur project”, the diplomat added.

In this framework, the representative of Venezuela before the General Secretariat of UNASUR stressed the need to deepen and expand the role of the peoples in the integration process, and urged the members of the Youth Network for the Solidarity Union of the South American Peoples to assume the vanguard in the defense of regional integration.

“You are called to play a very important role. You are called to take a step forward, to know the processes of integration, to feel and make the integration processes come true”, he added.

Background

Boris Hernández, one of the members of the Network, cited the background of the organization that lies in the First National Meeting of Conscience of the South, held at the Rómulo Gallegos National Experimental University from December 14 to 16, 2017.

“It was decided to create the Youth Network for the Solidarity Union of the South American Peoples, which aims to develop activities of integration initiative and meeting with the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, with special emphasis on South America, under the principles of sovereignty, freedom , peace, solidarity and democracy, to ensure and promote the cooperation of the South” he specified.

Alberglenis Hernández, for his part, stressed the importance of this organization, because it foresees the integration of each of the young people through their universities or their social movements.

“Young people are the ones who currently have the power to change or improve what may be happening”, Hernandez said, referring to the current situation of Unasur.

The installation ceremony counted also with the presence of the Minister Counselor of the representation of Venezuela before UNASUR, Gerardo Argote; and the director of the Coordination of Culture and Solidarity with the Peoples of the Vice Ministry for International Communication of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Lídice Altuve Moreno.
