The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will establish an opportune and permanent information mechanism with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (Acnudh), informed the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza.
From Geneva, Switzerland, where the 39th Session of the UN Human Rights Council is held, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister emphasized that this exchange will lead to a new stage in the relationship of the South American country and the instance that the former president recently assumed. “We believe that a new type of cooperation can be undertaken with this Office and with the universal human rights system,” the diplomat said after a meeting with the High Commissioner.
In this context, he criticized the management of the outgoing United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, whose reports on Venezuela – he argued – lacked methodological rigor.
“He had a terrible relationship with Venezuela, a relationship of accusations, a biased relationship,” he said.

In other topics, Foreign Minister Arreaza informed that only from the north of Brazil more than 2 thousand Venezuelans have been repatriated through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria, a program promoted by the national Executive to facilitate the return of the compatriots They keep on the outside.
In this regard, and in the face of accusations of xenophobia and labor exploitation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs urged the countries of the region to respect international laws and coordinate with Caracas to address the issue, based on bilateral dialogues.
“Human mobility is a right, migration is a right and should protect citizens who are in their territories as any other,” he added.
