The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Bolivarian People and Government, expresses his most sincere congratulations on the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Independence Day today, August 15.
On this day in 1947, the Indian people put an end to the colonial rule of the British Empire, through the libertarian deed of Nonviolence of the great statesman «Great Soul» Mahatma Gandhi and the emancipation movement led by Jawaharlal Nehru, with the establishment of a Government that became an international reference of democracy, sovereignty and self-determination. These are the original and ongoing values of the spirit of the Afro-Asian Conference in Bandung, Indonesia in 1955, a meeting that provided the ground for the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961; at both times, with India as one of its founders.
The People and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in its love and admiration for India, ratifies its unbending will of cooperation and complementarity, to continue building a balanced, multicentric and pluripolar world of Peace and Joint development, strengthening its fraternal and cordial bilateral relations, to follow the path of independence and welfare of its peoples.
