ALBA-TCP Humanitarian Air Bridge transports 3.5 tons of medical supplies to Cuba

In the spirit of the principles of solidarity and brotherhood of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), 3.5 tons of medical supplies were transported on Friday to Havana, Cuba, thanks to the Bank of ALBA.

The shipment, transported by Venezuela’s Conviasa airline, was donated by the governments of Barbados, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia, which joined regional cooperation efforts to help the Cuban people reduce the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States.

This solidarity-based operation is part of the humanitarian air bridge set up at the Meeting of the ALBA-TCP Social Council in January 2021.

The Bank of ALBA and Conviasa served as the financial and operative arms, respectively, for the logistics and transport of the donation to Havana.

In March, 20,000 doses of China’s Sinopharm vaccine were sent to the Commonwealth of Dominica to immunize the population, and in June, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda received a batch of 20,000 Sinopharm doses donated by the People’s Republic of China.
