Venezuela accredits new ambassador to Burkina Faso

On Thursday, February 18, the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela residing in Bamako, Oscar Ernesto Romero Vallenilla, presented the Credentials to the President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, at the Kosyam Palace, in the city of Ouagadougou, capital of the country, being the second Venezuelan diplomatic representative accredited to the Government of that nation since the establishment of diplomatic relations between both States in 2003.

After the solemn act of delivery of the aforementioned credentials, Ambassador Oscar Romero was received in a private audience by President Kaboré and the members of his cabinet. During the meeting, the President of Burkina Faso addressed the security situation in his nation, referring to the efforts of his Government in the fight against terrorism and the progress made after the last meeting of the G5 Sahel, in which he participated in N’ Djamena (TChad), on February 16 of this year.

President Kaboré reported having knowledge of the situation in Venezuela, while expressing his solidarity with the Government of President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan people.

Similarly, the Head of State expressed his full commitment to revitalizing diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Burkina Faso, stating that he was ready to receive a visit from a Venezuelan delegation in order to work on the basis of South-South cooperation.

He thanked the Venezuelan Government for the student scholarships that Burkina Faso received within the framework of the solidarity policy.

Finally, President Kaboré conveyed his warm greetings to President Nicolás Maduro Moros, to whom he wished health and prosperity.
