Venezuela denounces before UN, PAHO inaction of Colombian authorities against COVID-19 on border

The Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19), headed by Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez, held a meeting with representatives of the UN System and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) accredited to Venezuela in order to denounce the inaction of Colombian migration authorities on the border with Venezuela in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, a situation that promotes Venezuelans’ entry through informal border crossing points. The inaction of the Colombian authorities hampers the epidemiological efforts made by the Bolivarian Government to receive those Venezuelans that are returning home as they flee from the xenophobia and social havoc resulting from the late measures taken by Colombia due to COVID-19. The Venezuelan government guarantees the fundamental human rights of Venezuelans, as well as their protection and well-being by implementing personalized, free sanitary protocols, while protecting the population on bordering states.
